The FairFX Travel Money card is BRILLIANT
On my first visit to USA I took dollar travellers' cheques but found them almost impossible to exchange. For my next visit, therefore, I looked for a safe, easily convertible alternative. One of the travel money websites suggested FairFX so I tried it.
It's brilliant because:-
1) The website is clear. The telephone part is easy. There is very little automated voice instruction. Instead a real person with a clear and reassuring voice takes you through the application process. Any problems are dealt with promptly and clearly either by e mail or telephone.
2) The fact that you can load the card at a time of your choosing means you can watch the currency movements and load the card at a favourable moment. The rates offered by FairFX compare very favourably with other exchange centres.
3) Any excess currency left on the card at the end of your foreign holiday simply remains there until you need it again. Thus my residue from last year was worth a lot more when I returned to USA 2 weeks ago. Other than the local bank fee, which one is warned about, there really are no charges when withdrawing cash from the foreign bank. I only encountered one place, and that a very small, independent retail outlet, where my card was not accepted. These 2 factors in particular meant I could operate easily for my entire holiday without having to carry large quantities of cash on my person.
I had a financially carefree holiday and would thoroughly recommend FairFX as a safe and convenient financial tool.
