An article published in the Times today said that that Luton, Newcastle and Liverpool airports are some of the worst places for holidaymakers to take out foreign currency.
Stephen Heath, our chief executive said: "Most providers rely on the fact holidaymakers will be in a complete rush when preparing for a trip abroad, and fail to organise currency before they get to the airport.”

Britons take more than 44 million trips overseas each year, spending around £31 billion. Of this, about £1.8 billion is going in charges imposed when withdrawing money from foreign cash machines or for using credit or debit cards, a survey for pre-paid currency card provider FairFX said. More here.

The key difference with the FairFX card is that it always uses the keenest forex rates, which are typically 3% above the best rates used by the banks and 6-7% above the worst. Add that advantage to the saving of the per-item debit card charges and you can easily save 10% on a set of foreign purchases. More...
